The fall semester has been an exciting time at the “James E. Shanley Tribal Library” on the campus of Fort Peck Community College. A dedication ceremony and open house was held on September 17th. Since our move was completed, we have gained 123 new patrons and have shelved 312 new items for circulation. Current best sellers Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowlings, and Argo by Antonio Mendez are not collecting any dust on our new shelving! Through a generous donation by a new patron and also recent purchases, our Large Type collection is growing by leaps and bounds. We have pulled these books out of the regular collection and they are now shelved together for easier access. Please keep this collection in mind if you or any of your friends or relatives is visually impaired. We have also added numerous titles to our audio books collection.
Our “Books and Babies” and “Mother Goose Story Time” groups are growing every week. If you have children under the age of 5, these nurturing activity times would be worth your while. “Books and Babies” meets every Tuesday at 10:15 for children under the age of 2. “Mother Goose Story Time” meets on Wednesdays at 10:15. Children over the age of 2 are encouraged to attend to share stories and activities with other children and moms.
We welcome all residents of our area to visit our beautiful new facility. We offer all of the traditional library services as well as interlibrary loan, free wireless access, dvd checkout and photocopying and fax services. Or just come in to read the daily newspaper in our comfortable reading area. We look forward to seeing you!
