ceremony of research project

The Fort Peck Community College/Fort Peck Tribes Ceremony of Research Grant facilitated the development of an Institutional Review Board. The IRB is an administrative body established to protect the rights and well being of the residents of the Fort Peck Tribes.

The IRB Policy and Procedures allow the Fort Peck Tribes/College to provide their own ethical review for research conducted in their community. The drafting of the IRB Policy and Procedures was a collaborative effort among project partners, Fort Peck Tribes, FPCC, MSU and their Project Advisory Board. The Institutional Review Board was appointed by the Project Advisory Board, (PAB) who identified community members who were interested safeguarding the residents of the Fort Peck Tribes.

The Fort Peck Executive Board requested that Fort Peck Community College implement and manage the IRB. During the development of the IRB policies and procedures, specific attention was given to honoring and following the laws and ethics of the Assiniboine and Sioux people.

  1. This website will provide up to date information on the research projects on the Fort Peck Reservation including brief project descriptions, the institutions involved, contact information for individuals involved in the research, and the agency(s) funding the research projects. The rationale of the health research website is to provide one central location. Where community members, educators, policy makers, researchers and students who are interested in collaborating or participating in health research on the Fort Peck Reservation can go to find information and/or contacts on health research being conducted with the Fort Peck Tribes. Maintenance of the website will be a shared responsibility between FPCC and the Fort Peck Tribes.
  2. We are asking that Researchers please fill out the tracking form to help us begin this database. The information will be used for educational purposes and will help the Institutional Review Board track research conducted on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
  3. Please send a completed form to Fort Peck Community College or fax (406)768-6301, Attention: Mr Wayne Two Bulls, Vice President Academic Affairs. Thank you for your time and consideration.
