Early Childhood Education

Graduates of the Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in Early Childhood Education will be prepared to meet the unique needs of children from birth through age eight in child care centers, Head Starts, and pre-schools.  Students successfully completing the Early Childhood Education (AAS) degree will have acquired the requisite skills for obtaining employment or advancement in the field of early childhood care and education.

  • Know and understand young children’s characteristics, needs and multiple influences on development and learning
  • Use developmental knowledge to create healthy, respectful, supportive and challenging learning environments.
  • Understand the goals, benefits uses of assessment and practice responsible assessment.
  • Know about assessment partnerships with families and other professionals.
